Wow! What a twist! I didn’t expect to find out more about Lily’s story when book number one was finished。 But I am so glad that we were able to find out more of her captivity。 Families can sure be crazy, and the Visser’s were certainly no exception。 Quite a few twists along the way, Detective Kaylie never gives up and keeps working to find out the truth of what happens to the Garza’s。 Living in ND I love reading a book that is based here!

Do any of you all get butterflies in your stomach when you read? Like you can’t settle them with every page you turn? This is what happens every single time I read ANYTHING by Danielle Girard, and a reason why she will ALWAYS be one of my favorite authors。 This is only the 6th book I’ve read by her (don’t worry I’m still working on the backlist of earlier work) and as always Far Gone had me on the edge of my seat like I was on a roller coaster bout to go down the very first dip at high speed。 I Do any of you all get butterflies in your stomach when you read? Yes because I’m an emotional man and lose it on happy/sad moments。 Easily one of my favorite books of the year and I’m already anticipating the next book in this series。 I truly hope there is a next book in this series。 Congrats on book #15 🤗 。。。more

What happened all those years ago and who is responsible? There is never a dull moment in the book。 I flew thru the book。 Just when you think you know who did it, there is another twists。 Although we have multiple storylines, the author did an awesome job bringing it all together。 I can't wait to read the next book in the series。 。。。more

I won’t say too much about the twists for fear of spoiling them, but I really appreciated that they never let up! I was able to figure some of them out, but I think readers will be mostly surprised as they make their way through the book! I didn’t see many of the things that occurred happening, and I have to say this is one memorable, chilling thriller!! 。。。more

No one mentioned the distressing #metoo issue about a rape。 That’s one of the plot devices that drives the narrative 。 。 。 yet, few characters behave as though rape is unacceptable。 Other characters aren’t “concerned。” Or worse。 Much worse。 Here’s the topper: given the circumstances, the rape victim’s actions and responses are unbelievable。 Victim engages in fantastical medical heroics, leading to—SHAZAM!—magical outcomes。 The critically injured, nearly unconscious man speaks 。 。 。 coherently。 There’s more, but I’ll stop。 Two stars because part of this book is a decent read。 PSFor those who don’t mind spoilers, I recommend the excellent one star review on GoodReads。 It’s a “tap to view。” 。。。more

She did it again! Danielle Gerard penned an easy to follow story with multiple characters that are interwoven into a fast paced mystery。 With this being the second in the series, you do not necessarily need to read the first, as there are only a few references to it in the current story。 It doesn’t hinder the reader from not understanding anything that is taking place currently。 I enjoyed the quick chapters with the multiple viewpoints as this helped to speed the story along。

This is the second book in the Badlands Thriller series - I haven’t read the first, and while I was able to pick up pretty well who was who and what had previously happened to them from context, I think I was missing a lot of emotional depth for detective Kylie Milliard and ED nurse Lily Baker, who appear to have been the main characters of the first book。 They’re joined here by Hannah Visser, a 14-year-old girl who arrived to her babysitting job high and hoping the clients wouldn’t notice - onl This is the second book in the Badlands Thriller series - I haven’t read the first, and while I was able to pick up pretty well who was who and what had previously happened to them from context, I think I was missing a lot of emotional depth for detective Kylie Milliard and ED nurse Lily Baker, who appear to have been the main characters of the first book。 They’re joined here by Hannah Visser, a 14-year-old girl who arrived to her babysitting job high and hoping the clients wouldn’t notice - only to witness their brutal murder。 Too frightened to go to the police, Hannah stole a car and fled the scene, and now Kylie must track her down… before the killer cleans up the only witness to his crimes。I’m probably going to go back and read White Out, because I really liked both Kylie and Lily and I very much wanted to know more of Lily’s backstory。 Lily herself doesn’t have clear memories of the time she spent as a prisoner of a brutal serial killer, and what happens in this book does clarify some of those events for her, as well as bring her into a family she didn’t know she had。 Although Hannah seems at the beginning to be an entitled, troubled teen - taking drugs when she’s responsible for a baby definitely had me side-eyeing her - it eventually becomes clear that she’s trying her best and there are circumstances which have led her down dark paths, and by the end I was definitely rooting for her。 This is an excellent, intriguing thriller with some strong and fascinating female characters at the heart of it。 Even without having read the first book, I’ll happily give it five stars, but I do think it’s probably best if you don’t launch into the series here。Disclaimer: I received a review copy of this title via NetGalley。 。。。more

Hannah has babysat for the Garza's a few times, but tonight is different。 Just before the parents left, Hannah finds herself hiding in a closet as an intruder enters the home and kills both Ben and Nadine。 After the killer leaves, Hannah is panic stricken and has no idea what to do。 She grabs the baby and starts driving。 Though Hannah can't exactly place it, the killer's voice is familiar enough to leave Hannah unsure of who to trust and where to go。 As Hannah is on the run for her life, more se Hannah has babysat for the Garza's a few times, but tonight is different。 Just before the parents left, Hannah finds herself hiding in a closet as an intruder enters the home and kills both Ben and Nadine。 After the killer leaves, Hannah is panic stricken and has no idea what to do。 She grabs the baby and starts driving。 Though Hannah can't exactly place it, the killer's voice is familiar enough to leave Hannah unsure of who to trust and where to go。 As Hannah is on the run for her life, more secrets unfold leaving everyone scrambling for the truth。I couldn't put this one down!
